Daily Prompt: Productivity

I feel most productive late at night, when everything is quite and I feel most creative. That is the time when I get most of my writing and chores done. Around noon your brain is most awake and should be the most productive time, however a regular day job takes up that time. Even if I didn’t have a regular day job I would still write at night to avoid everyday distraction, like the lawn maintenance people mowing the lawn. In college, I started realizing that some of my best work came to me at night. I stopped going out with friends and spent extra time working on assignments that I knew were going to be due that week. Since I was taking creative writing classes, most of my homework was reading, writing poetry or fiction, and analytical papers. Usually I would dread writing long essays. I tried to complete the task as fast as I could instead of producing my best work possible. When I started doing my work at night I was no longer worried about hanging out with friends and stopped dreading the work. I knew that my plans after classes consisted of being productive instead of hanging out and meeting people. No longer did I feel a time constraint, the night was long and time became an after thought. With this new found freedom I dedicated countless hours to perfecting everything I put my name on. To this day, I continue to be most productive at night because it is quite and I feel most creative.
